The BellaDonna Bridal Collection was the inspiration of Wendy Makin who recognised a need for an up to date collection for the modern bride that had the elegant style and signature of her benchmark Wendy Makin collection.

Introduced in 1999, BellaDonna quickly took the market by storm with brides and boutiques realising the significance of Wendy's vision. Initially designed by Wendy Makin the collection showed simple elegant lines with delicate and exquisite hand beading and coloured embroidery. Using beautiful delustred satins, chiffons and delicate laces the BellaDonna collection quickly gained a dedicated following amongst brides which has been enhanced as the label has developed.

Today Wendy has been joined in the designing of the BellaDonna collection by Kelly Ridgewell. London trained, Kelly has injected a new vigour to the collection which now incorporates new cutting edge fabrics as well as embracing more of the casual feel that brides are looking for today. Kelly’s elegant silhouettes align very much with Wendy Makin's design philosophy of letting the fabric and the design create the look and together they make a dynamic team.

The BellaDonna philosophy is forged from the Wendy Makin beliefs of making brides beautiful. To do this the team works tirelessly with retailers and brides honing the designs and developing the style of the collection. From this co-operation the BellaDonna team has developed a much more wearable gown. Their accent is now on comfort for the bride rather than too much boning and structure which makes the gowns too heavy and uncomfortable.
A lot of this development has also come from the labels reputation for doing “Destination Gowns” very well. Many of the BellaDonna gowns are extremely popular with brides getting married at a destination such as a Whitsunday Island, Fiji, the Bahama’s or even Positano in Italy. The fabrics and construction make them perfect for taking out of your suitcase to wear for your wedding with the minimum of fuss.
